Willibald Katzinger

Willibald Katzinger (born March 31, 1949 in Altenfelden ; † May 13, 2019 ) was an Austrian historian and museum director.

Life

Willibald Katzinger studied in Salzburg and Vienna German and history, in 1975 wrote his dissertation he in History at the University of Vienna on "The markets in Upper Austria". He became the first employee of the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute in Linz and from 1978 worked at the Linz City Archives . From 1990 until his retirement in 2010, Katzinger was director of the Linz City Museum Nordico .

Katzinger wrote several scientific publications. His work on the history of the city of Linz is considered a standard work.

Katzinger lived in Enns . In May 2019 he died after a long illness at the age of 71.
