Anna Mutter (born August 29, 1918 in Wels ; † March 11, 2011 in Linz ), née Kolbitsch, was an Austrian artist , painter and representative of Austrian Expressionism .

Live and act

From 1939 onwards, Anna Kolbitsch attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna without a Matura , where she was taught by Karl Sterrer and Herbert Boeckl , among others . For a short time she also took lessons from Rudolf Szyszkowitz at the Graz School of Applied Arts . Before that, from 1937 on, she worked as an educator at the Neulandschule in Vienna in order to finance her studies. After the school closed in 1938, she returned to Wels and took drawing lessons from her future husband, Adolf Mutter .

She painted portraits, landscapes, still lifes, collages and flowers. Her works are characterized by strong colors. The liveliness and plasticity of her pictures make up the artistic signature of the artist.

The artist was a member of the professional association of visual artists in Upper Austria .

While preparing for the academy, she met and fell in love with the draftsman Adolf Robert R. Mutter (born December 5, 1888, † March 8, 1968) thirty years her senior. The two were married from 1941 until Adolf's death in 1968. They had a son and a daughter.

Awards

  • Sponsorship award for her oil paintings (1950). The prize money was used to finance a study trip to Paris, where she began to study modern painting.
