Marie-Rose Morel
Marie-Rose Louise Constant Morel (born August 26, 1972 in Antwerp ; † February 8, 2011 there ) was a Belgian politician . She belonged to the right-wing extremist and separatist Flemish party Vlaams Belang . Morel had been a member of the Flemish Parliament since 2004 , before that she was a member of the Belgian Senate ( N-VA ).
Morel was elected Miss Flanders in 1994. Shortly before her death, she moved to Schoten in the province of Antwerp , where she was an active local member. In 2008 she was diagnosed with uterine cancer . She succumbed to this disease on February 8, 2011.
A month before her death, Morel married the politician Frank Vanhecke , the chairman of Vlaams Belang .
