Marie Fikáčková

Marie Fikáčková (born September 9, 1936 in Sušice , † April 13, 1961 in Prague ) was a Czechoslovak nurse and serial killer .

Life

Fikáčková (nee Schmidl) was born into a German family. In 1955 she graduated from the Klatovy Medical School . From 1957 she worked as a nurse in the neonatal department in the hospital in Sušice. Shortly before she was arrested, the hospital management wanted to promote her to head nurse.

On February 23, 1960, two newborns suddenly died during their work shift. The autopsy found that the babies had died a violent death. Four days later, on February 27, Fikáčková was arrested at her workplace. During interrogation, she confessed to the murders of both babies and eight others. She said she couldn't stand the children's screaming.

The death sentence was announced after a trial on October 6, 1960. On April 13, 1961, Fikáčková was hanged at the age of 24 in Pankrác Prison in Prague.
