Marie Prevost

Marie Prevost (born November 8, 1898 in Sarnia , Ontario , Canada , as Mary Bickford Dunn , † January 23, 1937 in Hollywood , California , USA ) was a Canadian actress.

Life

Marie Prevost began her film career in 1915 with appearances in short films. At first, however, she did not succeed in establishing herself in the film business and she had to keep her head above water with numerous other jobs. It was not finally discovered until 1921 and was featured in larger Hollywood productions, also published in Germany, such as Ernst Lubitsch's Die Ehe im Kreis und Drei Frauen (both 1924), A Girl from a Good Home and Love According to Grades . By 1936 she was involved in around 120 productions.

Due to her strong accent, however, it became increasingly difficult for her to get good roles after the invention of the sound film. Her marriage to actor Kenneth Harlan only lasted three years (1924 to 1927).

Marie Prevost suffered from depression and alcohol addiction. She died on January 23, 1937 of malnutrition and excessive alcohol consumption. Her death was only discovered days later by neighbors when her dog barked loudly.

She was given a star on the Walk of Fame .
