Marie Weitbrecht, née Sattler

Marie Weitbrecht (née Sattler , born December 23, 1863 in Göttelfingen , † December 20, 1945 in Wiesbaden ) was a German writer.

Live and act

Marie Weitbrecht was the daughter of Vicar Gottlieb Friedrich Sattler (1818–1899) and Elise Hölder (1830–1924). At the age of 15 she attended the teachers' seminar in Markgröningen and graduated as a home economics teacher .

Shaped by the cultural life in the Protestant rectory of her parents, by the contacts with the pastor Eduard Mörike , with whom her father had worked, and the marriage in 1889 with the pastor Paul Weitbrecht (1861-1922), Marie Weitbrecht became increasingly concerned with classical music , poetry and family history . In addition to writing her own volumes of poetry, she was interested in the lyrical legacy of Eduard Mörike, Julius Krais, among others . She revised a large part of these poetry collections and published them in a new compilation.

As part of her genealogical research, Weitbrecht joined the Association for Württemberg Family Studies and published biographical articles on, among others, Helene Ruckher, director of the Hofapotheke Stuttgart , and the theologian Peter Meiderlin .
