history

The settlement was in the 8./9. Founded in the 19th century at a crossing over the Great Vils In 1226 Frontenhausen fell to the Regensburg Monastery, while the county rights were passed to the Dukes of Bavaria . In 1386 the place had to be sold by the bishop of Regensburg to the Wittelsbach family . In the same year the place received market rights . The Marienplatz refers to this as a marketplace .

There are no traces of the market fortifications built between 1418 and 1424 with three gates.

description

Like its counterpart on the north-west corner, Kirchgasse, Dingolfinger-Strasse has only a narrow passage width, which contributes to the closed nature of the square. The place was particularly affected by fires in 1536 and 1779, so that nothing of the original wooden construction has been preserved. Today's buildings go back to the 18th century and are mostly two-story, with the older buildings facing the square on the gable side.

On the west side, the pharmacy and the town hall from 1737 form a closed façade with their shared hipped roof on the eaves. On the north side, the front with sloping gable houses is dominated by the parish church of St. Jakob . This development also forms the boundary of the churchyard.

The Marian column was erected in 1874.
