Mary, Mother of All Asia statue

The Virgin Mary statue of Montemaria is a 96 meter high Virgin Mary statue on the coastal hill Monte Maria around 20 kilometers south of Batangas City on Luzon , in the Philippines . It is the largest statue in the world depicting Mary , mother of Jesus . It forms the center of a pilgrimage and holiday center that is being built in the southern part of the Batangas bay. Construction of the statue began in early 2007. It should be completed in 2017.

The tower-like statue rests on a multi-storey, around 21-meter-high circular base structure, in which there are various rooms. Inside, 1001 steps lead from the base to the statue's crown.

It is visible to the approximately 200 ships passing daily on the Isla Verde Strait (Batangas – Sabang) shipping route .
