The club with almost 800 members was created on March 6, 1929 through the merger of the Wandsbeker Lawn Tennis and Ice Skating Club, founded in 1900, with the Marienthaler Hockey Club, founded in 1904 . The approximately 60,000 m 2 club area has been located directly to the east behind the Horner racecourse since 1956 .

tennis

The tennis department with its eleven adult and eight youth teams has 14 ash courts and two indoor courts in the club's own hall.

hockey

The biggest success of the hockey department is the one-year guest appearance of the first men's team in the indoor hockey Bundesliga in the 2004-2005 season. In the 2006-2007 season, the team played both on the field and in the hall in the second Bundesliga. After a radical upheaval with a strong rejuvenation, the team has been playing in the top league since the 2009/2010 field season after two relegations in a row. In the hall, the team still plays in the second Bundesliga north.

Since 2008 the women have been playing both indoors and on the field in the Regionalliga Nord. In the 2009/2010 field season, the MTHC's first women's team made it to the second division, where they were relegated to the second division for another year. The women of the second team now play in the top division.

The MTHC has an artificial turf field with floodlights, which was completed in 1995 , two natural grass fields and a hockey hall.
