Marija Jegorowna Gaidar ( Russian Мария Егоровна Гайдар ; born October 21, 1982 in Moscow , Soviet Union ) is a Russian politician.

In 2005 she founded the movement “Da!” (“Yes!”) Together with Alexei Navalny . From 2009 to 2011 she was the deputy governor of Kirov Oblast . In Russia she was considered a liberal opposition activist. In July 2015 she was appointed Deputy Governor of Odessa Oblast in Ukraine by Mikheil Saakashvili and received Ukrainian citizenship. On March 28, 2017, she became a freelance advisor to President Petro Poroshenko , this assignment ended in May 2019 on the last day of his term in office. In 2018 she was a member of parliament in Odessa and hoped to be able to initiate reforms for a “free and democratic society”, which, in contrast to Russia, seemed possible to her in Ukraine. She does not understand that it is apparently more important to many people in Russia to be feared abroad.

Marija Gaidar is married for the second time and has one daughter. She is the daughter of the former Russian Prime Minister Yegor Gaidar and the great-granddaughter of the Soviet youth writer Arkadi Gaidar . In addition to her Russian mother tongue, she speaks English , Spanish and German .
