Marijan Lipovšek (born January 26, 1910 in Ljubljana , Austria-Hungary , † December 25, 1995 Ljubljana, Yugoslavia ) was a Yugoslav composer.

Lipovšek was a master student of Josef Suk at the Prague Conservatory . From 1933 he taught at the Music Academy in Ljubljana , where he became professor in 1947 and rector in 1965. From 1956 to 1965 he directed the city's philharmonic orchestra.

He composed a symphony and a symphonic poem , two orchestral suites and a ballet suite, three string suites, an overture, a trumpet concerto, two rhapsodies for violin and orchestra, chamber music works, cantatas , choral works, song cycles and songs .

His daughter Marjana Lipovšek is a well-known opera singer.
