Marijke van Hemeldonck

Marijke JH van Hemeldonck (born December 23, 1931 in Hove ) is a Belgian politician ( sp.a ).

Hemeldonck holds a degree in German from the Free University of Brussels and attended Columbia University School of Journalism . She was chairman of the SP in the Oudergem district , a member of the board of the SP in the Federation of Brussels and belonged to the women's group Zij-kant . She was also chairwoman of the women's committee of the Socialist Civil Servants Union, chairwoman of the committee “Status of Women” and an expert at the Committee on Women's Labor in Belgium and a committee member “Status of Women” in the UN .

Hemeldonck was an advisor in the Cabinets of Ministers for Employment and Labor for the Brussels Region and for Education. She was co-founder of the "Red Lions", the Flemish socialists in Brussels . She moved to the European Parliament in 1982 and was a member until 1994.
