Marika Hackman (born February 17, 1992 ) is a British singer-songwriter from the field of folk / pop music . She has been in the music business since 2012 and has released three albums so far (2019).

Career

Marika Hackman was born in the English county of Hampshire . At the age of fourteen she gained her first performance experience as a drummer in a cover band with her friend Cara Delevingne . In 2012 Hackman was chosen as a model for Burberry through Delevingne's contacts and performed as a solo artist in the label's stores.

Hackman's first release as a solo singer came in 2012 when the Transgressive label released their single You Come Down . She then released an EP with cover versions for free download. Their first EP with original compositions came out in 2013 under the title That Iron Taste , followed by Sugar Blind (2013) and Deaf Heat (2014).

For her debut album, Marika Hackmans relied on Alt-J producer Charlie Andrews, with whom she had previously worked. It was released in February 2015 under the title We Slept At Last on the Universal- affiliated label Dirty Hit . The album received a rating of 73/100 on Metacritic and landed at number 60 in the British charts.

Her second album I'm Not Your Man was released in June 2017 on Sub Pop and AMF Records . It reached number 74 on the UK charts.

In August 2019, her third album, Any Human Friend , came out, in whose lyrics Marika Hackman mainly dealt with sexual topics. The album reached number 42 in the UK charts.
