The seaside resort of Marina di Pisa is a district of Pisa in the Tuscan province of the same name . The place is about eleven kilometers west of downtown Pisan and has about 3,600 inhabitants. Marina di Pisa extends south of the mouth of the Arno and borders the seaside resort of Tirrenia in the south . The sandy beach of this area extends to the neighboring province of Livorno and has bathing beaches , restaurants with cuisine typical of the sea as well as leisure harbors at the mouth of the Arno.

The town, which was built around the middle of the 19th century and expanded during Mussolini's time, still conveys the atmosphere of the 19th century with its spacious streets. Many of the villas built in the Art Nouveau era have been renovated.

The poet Gabriele D'Annunzio loved the wide beach and the clear water. With him came aristocrats and, eventually, numerous other artists. It is believed that D'Annunzio wrote his famous poem La pioggia nel pineto ( The Rain in the Pine Grove ) here or in the nearby Marina di Pietrasanta . The different artistic testimonies of the city range from several Art Nouveau motifs to the nearby Basilica of San Piero a Grado .

Inland extend the forest areas of the Parco di Migliarino, San Rossore and Massaciuccoli, which extends over an area of 24,000 hectares along the coast. In the south it begins shortly after Livorno and ends in the north with Viareggio . The border inland is the Via Aurelia . The most fascinating part of the park is the area around Lake Massaciuccoli , whose swamps are the largest in Tuscany.
