The seaside resort of Tirrenia is a district of Pisa in the Tuscan province of the same name . Nestled in the pine forest of the Litorale Pisano and the Ligurian Sea (although the name refers to Mar Tirreno ), Tirrenia lies in the middle of the Tuscan coast. Located between Marina di Pisa and Calambrone , Tirrenia is an important tourist destination with its 10 km long beach. This is especially true for young people due to the numerous bars.

The city was founded in the time of the fascist regime. Benito Mussolini transformed this once swampy city into what he called the “Pearl of the Mediterranean”. Many architects from all over Italy built orphan centers and houses for the rich. In 1932 a railway line was opened from Pisa via Tirrenia to Livorno, which was in operation until September 15, 1960. In the 1930s, la Pisorno was built for propaganda purposes. Today the colonies established by Mussolini for orphans, which were abandoned after the Second World War, are being rebuilt. They should be used for tourists in the future.

At the southern exit of the village is the holiday center for the blind and visually impaired of the Italian Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired onlus .

Every Tuesday there is a large market in the town center by the church.
