The Navy of the Republic of Singapore ( English : Republic of Singapore Navy , abbreviated RSN ) is the naval force of the armed forces of the Republic of Singapore .
The city-state of Singapore maintains to protect its sea lanes as compared to the small size of the country's relatively large navy with 5,000 soldiers (including 1,800 conscripts ) plus 5000 quickly be activated reservists . The navy's duties include protecting against piracy in the Strait of Malacca .
Naval bases
The RSN operates three naval bases ( Sembawang Naval Base , Tuas Naval Base and Changi Naval Base ). The former Brani Naval Base was abandoned.
