Mario Arteaga (born November 29, 1970 in Guadalajara , Jalisco ) is a Mexican soccer coach and former soccer player who mainly played in midfield .

Arteaga began his career as a professional footballer at his hometown club Club Deportivo Guadalajara , where he was under contract from 1990 to 1993 and scored a total of 14 goals in 59 games in the top Mexican division . His most successful season was the 1991/92 season , in which he scored 9 goals in just 22 games.

For his outstanding performance in the 1991/92 season Arteaga was in the Mexican U-23 team appointed, with whom he at the Olympic football tournament of the year 1992 took part and two inserts in the preliminary round Group D against Australia and Ghana denied each 1: 1 ended.

He spent the 1993/94 season at Club León and the 1995/96 season at the UNAM Pumas .

After his playing career Arteaga was active between 2003 and 2009 in the coaching staff of the Dorados de Sinaloa , the Tiburones Rojos Veracruz and the Club León.

Between 2015 and 2019 he coached various youth teams of the Federación Mexicana de Fútbol Asociación , the national teams of the U-17 , U-20 and U-21 .
