Mario Campi

Mario Campi (born April 18, 1936 in Zurich ; † December 15, 2011 in Lugano ) was a Swiss architect .

Campi finished his architecture studies at the ETH Zurich in July 1960. He then worked with the architect Franco Pessina in an architecture office in Lugano, which was joined in 1969 by Niki Piazzoli. From 1977 he had a teaching position at the ETH, became professor there in 1985 and was dean of the Department of Architecture in 1988 . In 2001 he retired . After his retirement he had his own office again.

In 1986 he won a competition for the old town of Unterseen , and in 1987 for social housing in Lugano. He took part in a number of competitions and exhibitions and built not only in Switzerland, but also in Germany, Sweden and China. After 1990, the chemistry faculty at the ETH Zurich was built according to his plans.

Mario Campi died on December 15, 2011 at the age of 75.
