Mario Jeckle (born August 25, 1974 in Krumbach ; † June 11, 2004 in Kirchheim unter Teck ) was a German computer scientist .

Life

During and after his studies at the Augsburg University of Applied Sciences , Mario Jeckle worked at the DaimlerChrysler Research Center in Ulm from 1997 to 2003 . Most recently, he headed a research group there on the topics of standardization and internet technologies. In 2003 he moved to the Furtwangen University of Applied Sciences as a professor . In the business informatics department there , he was entrusted with the subjects of XML , databases , software engineering and e-business engineering until his death . He had previously taught Java , Java Threads, XML and software engineering at the Augsburg University of Applied Sciences .

Mario Jeckle was the W3C and OMG representative of DaimlerChrysler Research and as such was involved in the development of numerous technical industry standards ( XML schema , UML 2.0, etc.). Since the beginning of 2004 he was a member of the Technical Architecture Group (TAG), a high-ranking body of the World Wide Web Consortium .

In Germany he was known to a specialist audience as the author of books and articles (including XML, UML and Web Services ) and as a speaker at conferences and seminars.

In 1998 Jeckle received the computer science prize for his diploma thesis at the Augsburg University of Applied Sciences on the subject of "Process chain modeling using the example of casting tool development and prototypical implementation on the basis of the EDM / PDM system Metaphase".

Mario Jeckle, who volunteered for the German Red Cross , died while securing an accident site on the A8 when he and a second man were caught in a car as uninvolved first aiders and were fatally injured. He was buried in the Westfriedhof in Krumbach.
