Mario Kanopa (born April 18, 1978 ) is a former German soccer player . The multiple junior national player came to a professional use in his career.
KANOPA came in 1987 by BSG Traktor Frauenprießnitz to FC Carl Zeiss Jena . There he went through the youth and in 1993 reached the final of the German B youth championship alongside Robert Enke , Torsten Ziegner and Frank Berger , in which, however, the youngsters from Borussia Dortmund prevailed. Already in the 1995/96 season, the 17-year-old striker's talent was used in the second team, and in 1996 he was promoted to the professional squad as a contract amateur. Towards the end of the 1996/97 season Kanopa was appointed by Hannes Löhr to the German U21 national team and was used on June 6, 1997 in a friendly against Uzbekistan. Five days later, on June 11th, he was used for the first time in a professional game by coach Frank Engel on the last day of the derby against VfB Leipzig . Kanopa was on the starting line-up and scored the 1-0 opening goal (final score 3: 3). At the end of November Kanopa was again called up to the U-21 for two more missions against Switzerland and Belgium, where he also managed a hit. It was no longer enough for Kanopa to continue playing in professional football or in the U21s, as he was seriously injured in the 1997/1998 season and finally became a sports invalid. In 1998 Jena was relegated to the Regionalliga, a year later he left Jena and played for one season in the second team of 1. FC Nürnberg , but ended his professional career in 2000.
Mario Kanopa then studied German and history at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena and is now a high school teacher.
In the 2015/16 season he took over the coaching position of the first team of SV Arminia Kapellen / Hamb, in the district league B of the Kleve-Geldern football district.
On May 29, 2016, he and his team managed to make Arminia's premature promotion to the district A perfect with a 4-0 win over DJK Twisteden II. Thus, in his first year as a senior coach, he succeeded in what many other coaches failed in 31 years. In the 2016/17 season, Mario Kanopa will also be on the sidelines of Arminia.
