Torsten Ziegner (born November 9, 1977 in Neuhaus am Rennweg ) is a German soccer coach and former soccer player . Most recently he was the head coach of Halleschen FC .
Career
As a player
Ziegner played for BSG Mikroelektronik Neuhaus until 1991 . After having been a member of FC Carl Zeiss Jena since 1991 , he played his first second division game for the Thuringians in the 1995/96 season . In a total of three second division seasons he came to 20 missions. In the summer of 1998 he moved to FSV Zwickau and a year and a half later to the Stuttgarter Kickers . By the end of the 2000/01 season , he ran 37 times for the Kickers.
He then went back to Thuringia for FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt . In two years Regionalliga , he played 69 games and scored nine goals. In 2003 he moved to 1. FSV Mainz 05 . In the professional team (2nd Bundesliga) he was not used. Instead, he played 30 times for the amateurs in the Regionalliga Süd and scored three goals.
In 2004 Ziegner finally returned to FC Carl Zeiss Jena. In the first season he was with the club master of the Oberliga Nordost (Season South) and rose to the regional league. In the 2005/06 season he was one of the team's top performers and had a share in the march through to the 2nd Bundesliga. In the 2006/07 season , a broken tibia threw him back in the first half of the season. On March 2, 2007 he made his comeback in the away game against SpVgg Unterhaching .
After relegation in 2008 he stayed with the Thuringians and went into the newly founded 3rd division . Ziegner made negative headlines when he described his opponent Kingsley Onuegbu as a "black pig" in the away game of Jena at Eintracht Braunschweig after a gross unsporting behavior of the Braunschweig. Ziegner immediately apologized to Onuegbu and was banned from the DFB for five games.
In May 2009, Ziegner extended his contract with FC Carl Zeiss until 2011. On May 3, 2011, Ziegner was suspended and he left the Jena third division team when his contract expired. At the end of June 2011 he decided to continue his sporting career and moved to FSV Zwickau . Ziegner ended his career on June 30, 2012.
As a trainer
Ziegner was head coach of FSV Zwickau from July 1, 2012 . After the relegation encounters against the representative of the Regionalliga Südwest , SV Elversberg , he rose to the third division with the club for the 2016/17 season . He completed his football teacher training course at the Hennes-Weisweiler Academy and received the UEFA Pro license on March 20, 2017 . On February 27, 2018, the FSV announced that they would part ways with Ziegner at the end of the third division season 2017/18; he was released from his position on April 25, 2018.
At the beginning of the following season he took over Halleschen FC , which under him completed the season in fourth and played long for promotion to the second division. In November 2019, Ziegner's contract was extended until the end of the 2020/21 season. In the event of advancement, the working paper would automatically have been extended for another year. Following the 25th matchday of the 2019/20 season , Ziegner was released in Halle. The team had lost seven of the last eight league games (including 1: 6 against FC Bayern München II and 3: 5 against SpVgg Unterhaching ) and dropped out of the promotion zone to 13th place.
