Mario Majstorović (born March 1, 1977 in Korneuburg , Lower Austria ) is an Austrian football player on the position of a defender . After years in professional football, he is ending his career in sub-class amateur football and is currently (as of October 2016) playing for ASC Korneuburg in the regional league north-northwest in Lower Austria. Majstorović made headlines in mid-September 2013 when he was suspended by the BFV for alleged match-fixing during his professional Bundesliga career. Both Majstorović and his club protested the verdict and hired a lawyer.
Club career
The footballer with Croatian roots began his career in the youth of his home club ASC Korneuburg . In 1992 he moved to the youth team of FK Austria Wien , where he was promoted to the fighting team in 1995, but only came to a cup game against SC Kundl . As a result, he was awarded to several clubs until 1998, before he made his breakthrough in 1998 at Floridsdorfer AC .
After a successful season in the Vienna City League , he received an offer from the Grazer AK in 2003 and switched to coach Walter Schachner an der Mur . With the Grazers he became Austrian champion and ÖFB cup winner in his first Bundesliga season . In the summer break of 2007, after Graz's financial crash, the central defender moved to Vienna Austria , where he scored his first goal in the Austrian Bundesliga on July 20, 2008. Against LASK Linz he scored the winning goal with a long shot to make it 1-0.
In the summer of 2009 Majstorović announced his move to Kapfenberger SV . After only one year he turned his back on the Styrians and moved to SC Columbia Floridsdorf in the Regionalliga Ost. With the fall season 2011 Majstorović moved to the Regionalliga Ost-Klub Wiener Sportklub , which he left again in summer 2012 and turned to the up-and-coming fifth division club FC Rohrendorf / Gedersdorf . However, he ended this cooperation again in the winter transfer period and instead switched to his brother Dario in the seventh division at FK Bockfließ , to which his brother had been a member since the summer of the previous year. In the summer of 2013 he moved to Burgenland to SV Draßmarkt (Oberpullendorf district) in the II. League Middle. After his time in Burgenland, Majstorović moved back to his youth club ASC Korneuburg in summer 2016.
International
Internationally, he has been called up to the Austrian national team once (friendly match against Malta on February 7, 2007) , but has not been used.
