Mario Alberto Santana (born December 25, 1981 in Comodoro Rivadavia ) is an Argentine football player .
societies
The midfielder began his career with CA San Lorenzo de Almagro in Argentina. Here he played a total of three seasons in the first team before he moved to AC Venice in the Italian Serie A during the 2001/02 season. For the next season Santana then moved to US Palermo in Serie B , where he immediately matured into a regular player. Thanks to his convincing performance, he was poached from Serie A club AC Chievo Verona in 2003 . However, when Palermo rose to Serie A for the 2004/05 season, Santana returned to his former club, where he has been one of the most important team supports ever since. For the 2006/07 season Santana moved to Serie A rivals Fiorentina .
National team
Thanks to his consistently strong performances at US Palermo , Santana came on August 18, 2004 in a game against Japan (2-1) for his first appearance in the Argentine national team . As a result, he took part with the national team in the Confederations Cup in 2005 , where Argentina finished second. In the World Cup season, Santana has not yet been considered. He has so far been used in seven international matches.
