Mario Teran

Mario Terán (* 1939) is a former sergeant in the Bolivian army and became known for the shooting of Che Guevara .

Life

Mario Terán volunteered to carry out the execution of Che Guevara on October 9, 1967 in the Bolivian village of La Higuera . Thereafter, Terán was hidden by the Bolivian secret service, as they feared acts of revenge from Cuba . Six of the politicians and the military who were involved in Che's death have already died unnaturally: they were murdered or died in accidents, including the then President René Barrientos , who crashed in a helicopter.

In 2007, Mario Terán again caused international attention when it was revealed that of all Cuban doctors as part of Operación Milagro which to cataracts diseased man manufactured 'eyesight.

Mario Terán is married and has five children. Today he lives as a retired military man in the provincial capital Santa Cruz de la Sierra .
