Mario Zampi (born November 1, 1903 in Rome , † December 1, 1963 in London ) was an Italian film director and film producer .

Live and act

Zampi emigrated to Great Britain at the age of 19, where he began working as a film editor for the British subsidiary of Warner Bros. In 1937 he founded the production company Two Cities Film.

He shot his directorial debut, the spy drama 13 Men and a Gun , in an English and an Italian version in Italy. The Second World War hindered Zampi's development, as he was classified as an enemy alien in Great Britain .

After the war he worked as a director and producer for various film companies. He achieved his first major success with the comedy Who last laughs , the biggest box-office hit of the British cinema season in 1951. Zampi continued to direct and produce humorous material without being able to repeat the success of Who last laughs .

His son Giulio Zampi (1923-2003) worked with him as a production manager and editor.
