Marion Aye (born April 5, 1903 in Chicago , Illinois , as Maryon Eloise Aye , † July 21, 1951 in Culver City , California ) was an American theater and film actress who played mainly in comedies in the 1920s .

Life

Marion Aye, who was born in Chicago as the daughter of James H. Aye (1880–1961) and Eloise Emma Aye (1878–1951), was discovered by the US film producer Mack Sennett in the early 1920s and in 1922 became WAMPAS Baby together with twelve other up-and-coming stars Star chosen. In addition to comedies, she mainly starred in dance films and westerns alongside Bob Reeves .

Aye has been married three times. Her first marriage to Sherman William Plaskett lasted from 1918 to 1919. Her second with Harry Wilson from 1922 to 1924. She was married to Ross Forester from 1936 until her death in 1951.

After she finished her film career in 1926, she withdrew completely from the public eye and was forgotten by the film industry. She tried to take her own life several times since 1935. On July 10, 1951, she was found unconscious in a Culver City hotel after ingesting poison. Aye died of poisoning eleven days later at the age of 48. Her third husband, the comedian Ross Forester, reported shocked after her death that her statement that she wanted to take her own life had been taken as a joke.
