Job von Telmessos (civil Ihor Wladimir Getcha , Russian: Игорь Владимирович Геча ; born January 31, 1974 in Montreal , Canada) is an Orthodox bishop. From 2013 to 2015 he was Archbishop of the Exarchate of Orthodox Congregations of Russian Tradition in Western Europe of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople .

Life

Ihor Getcha began studying Orthodox theology in 1996 at St. Andrew's College, Ukraine, at the University of Manitoba and graduated in 1998 with a master's degree from the Institut de Théologie Orthodoxe Saint-Serge in Paris. After he took his religious vows on September 28, 1996 , had accepted the religious name Job and was ordained a deacon in the Ukrainian Cathedral of St. Sophia in Montreal by Basil of Winnipeg , he received the tonsure on May 27, 1998 and after his clothing he was also ordained a priest monk and in 1999 raised to the rank of archdeacon . After he had passed from the clergy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Canada (Ecumenical Patriarchate) to the clergy of the Exarchate of the Orthodox Congregations of Russian Tradition in Western Europe, he was ordained priest on June 20, 2003 by Gabriel von Komana . Also in 2003 he did his doctorate at the Institut Catholique de Paris and at the Institut de Théologie Orthodoxe Saint-Serge with the doctoral thesis The liturgical reform of the Metropolitan Kyprian of Kiev. An introduction to the Liturgy of the Hours based on the Typicon of St. Sabbas . He became Professor of Church History and Liturgical Studies at the Institut Saint-Serge in 2001 and Dean between 2005 and 2007. In 2009 he became professor for dogmatic and liturgical theology at the Institut d'études Supérieures en Théologie Orthodoxe in Chambesy . Until 2003 he served as rector of the parish of Saint Sergius in Paris and then until 2004 as pastor for the parishes in Spain. He was appointed Igumen on January 9, 2004 and Archimandrite on July 18, 2004 .

On November 1, 2013, he was elected exarch by the Holy Synod with the title of Archbishop of Telmessos . His ordination as bishop took place on November 30, 2013 by Bartholomew I in St. George's Cathedral in Istanbul. His enthronement took place in the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Paris on December 5, 2013.

On November 28, 2015, Archbishop Job was relieved of his duties as exarch by the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and appointed representative of the Ecumenical Patriarchate to the World Council of Churches after problems with his way of leading the exarchy . In spring 2016 Johannes Renneteau succeeded him as Exarch of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. In his place today Metropolitan Meletios of France heads the communities of Russian tradition in Western Europe that remained near Constantinople.
