Marion Joseph Levy junior
Marion Joseph Levy junior (born 1918 in Galveston , Texas , † May 26, 2002 ) was an American sociologist .
Levy Jr. studied sociology at Harvard University with Talcott Parsons and received his PhD there. He was appointed to Princeton University in 1947 , where he taught his entire life as a professor. Levy Jr. has become known as a modernization theorist. He was an advocate of structural functionalism and has published extensive research on Japan and China .
