The Marionnaud Parfumeries, Societe Anonyme is an international French perfumery chain based in Paris . The group of companies employs a total of more than 9,000 people and, as of 2008, had 1231 branches in 13 countries, 566 of them in France and around 100 each in Switzerland and Austria . In addition to perfumes , cosmetics and personal care products , the company also sells related accessories .
Marionnaud belongs to the "Luxury Perfumeries & Cosmetics" division of AS Watson . This in turn forms the retail group of the international conglomerate Hutchison Whampoa , based in Hong Kong.
history
The company was founded in 1984 by Marcel Frydman. In 1996 the chain had 48 stores. With the takeover of Bernard Marionnaud SA, the number of branches doubled.
In 1997, Marcel Frydman decided to adopt the Marionnaud brand and list the company on the stock exchange. The capital from the IPO was invested in further expansion. In 2001, the company entered Austria with the takeover of 52 Impo and 35 Holzer perfumeries. In 2005, Marionnaud was taken over by AS Watson. Shops in Italy, Spain, Morocco and Switzerland are also financed through the Austrian branch. In 2013 and 2014, Marionnaud therefore posted losses in Austria.
