Marjan Jelenko (born July 22, 1991 in Maribor ) is a former Slovenian Nordic combined athlete .

Career

Jelenko made his international debut in 2004 in junior competitions. From March 2006 he started in FIS races and from 2008 in the Alpine and Continental Cups. On January 31, 2009 he made his debut in the Nordic Combined World Cup in Chaux-Neuve . In the second competition he was able to achieve the points. At the Junior World Championships in 2009 in Štrbské Pleso he reached 6th place in Gundersen over 5 km and 29th place in Gundersen over 10 km. With the team he reached 12th place in the team competition. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Liberec in 2009 he had to be content with lower placements in all individual competitions. He finished the 2008/09 season in 74th place in the overall World Cup standings. His breakthrough came at the 2010 Junior World Championships in Hinterzarten . He won the bronze medal with the team and the silver medal in Gundersen over 5 km. He was able to improve this result a year later at the Junior World Championships in Otepää . After he had to admit defeat to the German Johannes Rydzek over the 10 kilometer distance , he won the 5 kilometer distance ahead of Rydzek and won his first international gold medal. Jelenko ended his career after the 2018/19 season.
