Marjorie Chau

Marjorie Chau (* 1979 in Santiago de Chile ) is a Chilean media artist , light artist , choreographer , costume designer , actress and performer based in Berlin.

Youth and education

Chau grew up in Santiago de Chile . She studied acting at the University of Arcis in Santiago del Chile and worked from 1998 to 2001 as an assistant to Carla Lobos, a Butoh choreographer. Since moving to Berlin, she has participated in several productions of Minako Seki , one of the main representatives of the butoh dance in Europe.

Own company

In 2003 she founded the company Dulce Compania, a project between performance, dance and acrobatics; In 2008 and 2010 she won first and second prizes at the Berlin Carnival of Cultures . From 2012, she continued to develop as an artist in a more individual, personal and independent direction and left Dulce Compania.

style

Chau constructs oversized visionary dream worlds. In doing so, she uses a personal language of expression in which, based on costumes with a high scenic effect, choreographic and performative elements, interactive installations, sound and video flow.
