The Péruse or Péruze (also called Lien in its lower reaches ) is a river in France that runs in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region . It rises in the municipality of Sauzé-Vaussais , generally drains in a south-easterly direction, forming numerous loops in the increasingly flatter terrain, and after around 24 kilometers flows into the Charente as a right tributary in the municipality of Condac . On its way, the Péruse crosses the Deux-Sèvres and Charente departments .

Hydrology

Due to the karst subsoil in the Charente area , the Péruse flows underground in some places between Bernac and Ruffec and is sometimes dry in the summer months.
