Mark Stephen Allen (born December 18, 1963 in Newcastle-upon-Tyne ) is a former English football player .

Career

Allen came as an apprentice (German apprentice) to Burnley FC . There he received a professional contract in December 1981 and made his competitive debut in the semi-finals of the Football League Group Cup against FC Wimbledon in February 1982 (final score 0: 5). Due to the injury-related failure of the regular striker Steve Taylor Allen came in early March as a substitute twice in the Third Division , which Burnley finished as champions, used, and scored Burnley's 2-1 defeat by Exeter City . With the engagement of Paul McGee a little later , Allen was only left with the role of reservist, a situation that did not change even after the promotion. After he had not received a contract beyond the 1982/83 season, Allen joined the fourth division team Tranmere Rovers in August 1983 .

For Tranmere he came to a total of twelve competitive appearances until December 1983, the only hit he succeeded in the first-round replay of the FA Cup against Bolton Wanderers (final score 1: 4). After he was no longer considered in the second half of the season, his contract was dissolved in May 1984. Allen then played for the Finnish second division side Pallo-Iirot , for whom he scored 13 goals in 18 games. In late 1984, the striker returned to England and was briefly while in the fünftklassigen Alliance Premier League antretenden FC Runcorn active, for which he was able to record a goal in seven league games.
