Mark L. Van name
Mark L. Van Name (* 14. March 1955 in Florida ) is an American science fiction - writer and technology consultant. He has lived in North Carolina since 2009 .
biography
Van Name co-founded the Sycamore Hill Writer's Workshop with John Kessel in 1985 . In 1996, John Kessel, Richard Butner and Van Name published an anthology of novels written in the workshop. The title is Intersections: The Sycamore Hill Anthology and also received a story from Van Name.
His first professional work was the short story My Sister, My Self in the anthology Isaac Asimov's Tomorrow's Voices in 1984 . His first novel, One Jump Ahead , was published by Baen Books in 2007 and won the Compton Crook Award for best novel in 2008 . It was the first novel in the Jon and Lobo series, followed by four more by 2012.
Van Name has been in the information technology field for over 30 years, previously serving as Vice President Product Testing at Ziff-Davis , writing a large number of IT articles for print and online media such as Computer Shopper and PC Week . He is currently CEO of the technology valuation company Principled Technologies in the Research Triangle in North Carolina.
