Lehmstedt publishing house
The Lehmstedt Publishing is a book publisher for the cultural history of Central Germany with a focus on fiction, nonfiction, and photography. He publishes works by Max Schwimmer , Hans Reimann , Erich Kästner , Hans Natonek , Hans Mayer , Roger Melis and Bernd Heyden , among others .
founder
The publisher Mark Lehmstedt (* 1961 in Berlin) was dismissed from school in 1979 as a youth in the former GDR for political reasons. After a "probationary year" in the lignite combine Bitterfeld (today Central German lignite company ) he served in the National People's Army of the GDR. After studying German at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig and the Humboldt University in Berlin , he received his doctorate in 1990 with a study on the publisher Philipp Erasmus Reich . He then worked on various research projects, including as a fellow at the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin .
founding
From 1999 to 2002 Lehmstedt was involved in the development of the digital library as a lecturer . In March 2003 Lehmstedt founded Lehmstedt Verlag in Leipzig, which is dedicated to the cultural history of the landscape in and around Leipzig. Lehmstedt Verlag was awarded the Kurt Wolff Prize at the Leipzig Book Fair in 2005. In 2006 the publisher added photo books to its program as a second focus. In 2019 he was awarded the German Publishing Prize.
