Mark Petrie
Mark Petrie (born May 20, 1979 in Auckland , New Zealand ) is a New Zealand composer for film, television and computer game music.
Early life and influences
Petrie was born and raised in Auckland, New Zealand. He began his early musical education during eight years of study at Dilworth School , where he studied piano and composition. After receiving a film scoring scholarship from Berklee College of Music in Boston , MA , he moved to the United States and earned a degree in film music.
Artistic work
After graduating from Berklee College of Music, Petrie received the Pete Carpenter Film Composing Fellow from the BMI Foundation.
He moved to Los Angeles to work under the direction of Grammy- winning composer Mike Post . Then he began writing for television programs and independent films. In 2007 he worked with PostHaste Music to compose music for trailers. Petrie is known in his compositions for “spreading contemporary elements through epic orchestral writing” (Output.com).
