Mark R. Thompson

Mark R. Thompson (* 1960 ) is an American political scientist . Thompson currently teaches at City University of Hong Kong . Before that, he worked at the Institute for Political Science at the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg .

Life

Thompson studied Religious Studies ( Brown University ), Political Science ( Cambridge University and Yale University ) and received his PhD from Yale University in 1991. Between 1997 and 2010 he taught at the Institute for Political Science at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, after which he moved to the City University of Hong Kong . His research focuses on comparative political science and transformation research, particularly with reference to the Asian region.
