Mark Stein (born March 11, 1947 in Bayonne (New Jersey) ) is an American rock musician . He became known as the singer , keyboardist , composer and arranger of Vanilla Fudge .

Life

Stein grew up in Bayonne and began to play the piano at the age of four, and later also guitar. After various high school bands he founded the band "The Pigeons" together with Tim Bogert , from which the psychedelic rock band Vanilla Fudge emerged in 1966 with the line-up Stein, Bogert, Vince Martell and Carmine Appice . Her trademark was Stein's playing on the Hammond organ. After separating from Vanilla Fudge in early 1970, he played with the Tommy Bolin Band in the mid-1970s. He later toured Australia and New Zealand with Alice Cooper's "Welcome to My Nightmare" show . A solo album produced by Dave Mason in 1979 remained unreleased. In 1983 there was a reunion of Vanilla Fudge, who released the studio album "Mystery" in 1984 and went on a three-month US tour in 1987. Since 1999 Mark Stein has been on tour with Vanilla Fudge more often and with a changing line-up, most recently in 2014 with the original members Vince Martell and Carmine Appice as well as Pete Bremy ( Ex-Cactus ).
