Marko Allen (born April 5, 1967 in Tampere ) is a former Finnish ice hockey player and current coach who was under contract with Ilves and HPK Hämeenlinna in the SM-liiga from 1985 to 1995 . His son Henri currently plays in a Finnish junior league.

Player career

Marko Allen began his career as a hockey player with Ilves , for which he was active in the SM-liiga from 1985 to 1988 . He then switched to HPK Hämeenlinna, who had just been promoted to the SM-liiga . He stayed there for seven seasons before ending his playing career in 1995. In a total of 382 Finnish first division games, he scored 91 points (28 goals and 63 assists).

Coaching career

After his playing career, Allen worked as a teacher, match observer and scout in his hometown of Hämeenlinna. In the summer of 2011 he signed a contract with the Italian first division club HC Pustertal , where he was to work as an assistant coach alongside his compatriot Teppo Kivelä . After an accident at work in the summer of 2011, however, he never appeared in Italy and was replaced there by Mikko Luovi .

International

For Finland Allen took part in the Junior World Championship in 1987 , in which he contributed two goals and three assists to the gold medal win in seven games.
