Teppo Kivelä (born October 8, 1967 in Espoo ) is a former Finnish ice hockey player and current coach who played in the SM-liiga for Jokerit Helsinki , HPK Hämeenlinna , HIFK Helsinki and Ässät Pori from 1984 to 2002, among others Has. Since 2020 he has been the head coach at EHC Winterthur from the Swiss League .
Player career
Teppo Kivelä began his career as a hockey player at Jokerit Helsinki , for which he was active in the SM-liiga from 1984 to 1986 . He then moved to HPK Hämeenlinna in the second-class I divisioona , with which he was promoted to the SM-liiga in the 1987/88 season. In this, his greatest success with his team was reaching third place in the 1990/91 season. With his new team he won the national championship in 1999 . After this success, the Left shooter left the team and signed for Milano Vipers from the Italian Serie A . The Lombards left the Finn after a season again and took a contract offer of Herning Blue Fox from the Danish AL-Bank Ligaen to, with whom he 2000/01 season champion was. A year later the center in Denmark ended its active career.
International
For Finland , Kivelä took part in the U20 Junior World Championships in 1986 and 1987 , as well as the 1991 World Cup.
Coaching career
Before Kivelä came to the HC Pustertal in Bruneck in 2009 , he trained as a trainer. In Finland, the family man worked for the ice hockey school in his hometown Hämeenlinna and was the head coach of the local U20 top team. In January 2013 he took over the head coach of the Italian second division club HC Neumarkt Wild Goose from the Italian A2 series and won the INL with the South Tyroleans in 2014 , a former international league with (second-class) teams from Austria, Italy and Slovenia.
Between 2015 and December 2016 he was assistant coach at the EC Graz 99ers , he also works as an assistant coach for the Italian national team and took part in the 2017 men's ice hockey world championship . Between 2017 and 2020 he worked as the head coach of SHC Fassa from the Alps Hockey League , a successor league to the INL.
Kivelä has been head coach at EHC Winterthur from the Swiss League since 2020 .
