Marko Car (born October 21, 1985 in Karlovac ) is a Croatian basketball player .

Life

Car played at KK Šanac Karlovac in the second division of Croatia and from 2005 at KK Split in the first division and in the Adriatic basketball league . He was a Croatian U20 international. At the beginning of 2008 he joined KK Osijek and averaged 21.3 points per encounter by the end of the 2007/08 season. In the 2008/09 season, the 1.88-meter-tall builder and winger first played for Etha Engomis in Cyprus, but moved back to Croatia in spring 2009 and joined KK Zadar . He also played for the club in the European Cup, in the 2010/11 season he scored an average of 21.7 points per game in the Croatian first division, making him Zadar's best thrower and the entire league. Car was then recognized by the specialist portal eurobasket.com as the best development player of the 2010/11 season in the Croatian league.

In 2011 Car moved within the Croatian league to KK Cedevita Zagreb , where he also gained European Cup experience and was used in the Euroleague . Compared to his previous position in Zadar, Car, who was appointed to Croatia's senior national team in 2012, was not the first option at Cedevita, in January 2013 he switched to league and city rivals KK Zagreb and then back to KK Zadar in the 2013 summer break. It stayed there until January 2014, when Car accepted an offer from the Greek first division club Kolossos Rhodes and played there until the end of the 2013/14 season.

In November 2014 Car was signed by the Austrian Bundesliga club Fürstenfeld Panthers . In the Bundesliga he should always be one of the best basket shooters in the league in the following years. In the seasons 2014/15 (points average: 20.4 per game) and 2016/17 (points average: 20.5 per game) Car was at the top of the list of Bundesliga basket hunters. In January 2018 Car signed a contract with the Italian second division club Cuore Napoli Basket, but the change was not carried out at Cars' request, Car stayed in Fürstenfeld. From September 2018, Car took over the position of sporting director in Fürstenfeld in addition to his duties as a player. In the 2018/19 season he was the second best Bundesliga scorer with an average of 20.4 points per match.

During the summer break of 2019, Car moved within the Bundesliga to UBSC Graz . There he was released in February 2020.
