The Marktkirche St. Johann is an Evangelical Reformed parish church in Lage in the Lippe district . Church and parish belong to the Lippe regional church .

history

The market church was built in the 10th century in the area of today's city of Lage, where several long-distance routes crossed. In the years that followed, structural changes were repeatedly made to the Lagens market church, such as the conversion to a Romanesque single-nave church and the erection of the church tower. In the 15th century it was converted into today's late Gothic, three-aisled hall church.

Furnishing

Bells

Special attention is paid to one of the oldest dated church bells in Lippe: The Marienglocke was cast in 1518 by the Münster foundry Wolter Westerhues . It weighs around 1,900 kg with a 1,460 mm diameter and has the striking note c 1 . It was stolen during the Second World War in order to be melted down, but was able to be brought back intact by some Lagens citizens after the war. The other two bells were cast in 1925 (g 1 ) and 1951 (e 1 ).

Another special part of the Marktkirche is its baroque organ by Johannes Fincke from 1707. During a renovation in 1884 by the Klaßmeier company , the organ was given two manuals and a pedal mechanism. In 1947, Emil Hammer Orgelbau added the Rückpositiv to the organ and underwent a comprehensive restoration in 2006.

The organ also has a donation board from 1710 showing the alliance coat of arms of Count Friedrich Adolf zur Lippe and his second wife Amalie zu Solms-Hohensolms . Today the plaque hangs on the south aisle.
