Market square in Reisbach

The market square in Reisbach , a market in the Lower Bavarian district of Dingolfing-Landau , is a protected building ensemble under the Bavarian Monument Act.

history

A fortification of the place on the Vils , first mentioned in 760 and endowed with market rights in 1445 , was started but not completed.

description

On the southern slope of the Vilstal, gently sloping towards the river, the market square , which the road to Frontenhausen and Dingolfing runs through, is unusually long . The eastern flank of the road leads to Vilshofen . The southern and northern front of the square are occupied by two churches, the Gothic parish church of St. Michael and the Salvator Church, which is also Gothic in its core .

After fires in 1659, 1719 and 1746, the last fire in 1835 particularly affected the gabled houses north of the confluence with Landauer Straße. They were mainly rebuilt as eaves side houses, on the eastern side of the square with half and full hips. The largely closed row of houses on the west side faces the east in groups or individually arranged houses, which are connected by arched walls. The facade design of the houses on the south side with stepped gables is based on the parish church.

A Marian column from 1845 and a war memorial with a lion figure stand on the market square .
