Markus Bröll (born May 15, 1987 ) is an Austrian cyclist from RC Höchst and six-time cyclist world champion (2013-2019).

Career

Markus Bröll started his career at RV Dornbirn . In 1999 he won the Austrian school championship for the first time together with Mathias Burtscher. They defended their title for the next two years. Then they switched to the juniors and won one silver and two gold medals. They also won the 2004 European Junior Championship.

From 2005 he played in the first division together with Martin Lingg . In 2007 he even achieved the championship title in the elite and the silver medal at the world championships . Since the 2009 season he has been playing with his brother Thommy , with whom he won the U23 European Cup twice. In 2010 the two moved together to RC Höchst .

At the beginning of 2013 he changed his partner again and has since played with the young world champion Patrick Schnetzer . In November 2017 he started with Patrick Schnetzer at the Indoor Cycling World Championships 2017 in Dornbirn and the two became vice world champions after a 3: 4 in the final against Germany.

In November 2018 he and Patrick Schnetzer won the title of world champion for the fifth time in Liège and in December 2019 the two won the title of world champion for the sixth time in Basel .

In August 2019, the 32-year-old announced that he wanted to end his active career at the end of the 2019 season.
