Markus Dolder

Markus Dolder (* 1960 in Kerzers , Canton of Friborg ) is a Swiss songwriter, adult educator and social deacon.

Life

Dolder grew up in St-Imier and Kerzers as the son of the EGW preacher Walter Dolder. He has trained as an agricultural machinery mechanic and as a second training adult educator. In 1981 he gave his first concert in front of a larger audience, in 1983 he was able to record his first long-playing record. It also included his well-known song "Was ich nruuche, gisch du mir" (What I need, you give me) . He worked for the Evangelical Community Organization (EGW) for 21 years , where he headed the Bern-West MAG staff group and was responsible for the music department, and during this time developed into a modern church musician. Since 2009 he has been working as a social deacon in the Evangelical Reformed parish of Oberwangen near Köniz . He works as a freelance coach, vocal director, houseman and writes songs and musicals in the Bernese dialect with Christian content. His music style moves in the styles of pop, ballads and chanson. An educational leave took him to Scotland to join the Iona Community in 2012 , which increased his interest in liturgy and contemplation . Every year he gives up to thirty concerts in which he sings and plays guitar, his producer, the musician David Plüss , accompanies him on the keyboard.

Dolder is married to Ursula, they have three grown children and live in Liebefeld near Bern .
