Oberwangen or by post Oberwangen b. Bern / BE is a village in the municipality of Köniz near Bern .

It has 1370 inhabitants and covers an area of ​​6.14 square kilometers. Oberwangen is located southwest of the capital Bern . In terms of transport, the town is well connected with direct train connections to Bern.

The first railway line through the Wangental was opened in 1860 by the Chemin de fer Berne-Friborg-Lausanne . It was not until 1928 that the Oberwangen railway station was inaugurated under pressure from the population. The motorway (A12) has been crossing the Wangental valley since 1978.

In 1914 the first mail deposit box was set up in Oberwangen, previously the mail box in Thörishaus was also responsible for Oberwangen. Due to the many changes of post office keepers, the location of the post office changed again and again over the years. In June 2009, a grocery store was opened in Oberwangen on the site of the former post office, which was expanded to include a post office.

The headquarters of Gilgen Logistics and the e-bike manufacturer Stromer are located in Oberwangen .
