Jappert was in the 1988/1989 and 1989/1990 seasons goalkeeper at FC Glarus, which at that time played in the second highest Swiss football league (NLB). Markus Jappert was in goal for FC Glarus when they sensationally defeated FC Basel 2-1 in the NLB game on August 13, 1988 ( 1988/89 season ) at the legendary St. Jakob (Joggeli) stadium.
