Markus Marthaler (born July 23, 1959 in Bern ) is a Swiss entrepreneur and author.

Life

Markus Marthaler grew up in Bern, where he also spent his first school years. After completing an apprenticeship as a banker and training as an officer, he joined what was then Swissair in 1983 . While working as a trainer and flight attendant, he studied psychology at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and graduated in 1988 with a diploma. In the same year he took up the position of head of training at Mövenpick companies. A little later he was promoted to head of training for the group and in 1990 was appointed to the board of directors as head of the human resources department.

After Mövenpick was sold in 1992, Marthaler left the company and went into business for himself. This was followed by teaching assignments and seminars across Europe, and in 1999 the company Marthaler-Partner was founded. This was followed by further training and various studies u. a. at the University of Heidelberg (systemic organizational constellation). From 2004 to 2007 he worked together with Hansruedi Egger in the area of ​​reintegration of burn-out clients.

In 2008 Marthaler was appointed to the board of the Steigenberger Hotel Group in Frankfurt as human resources manager . After his return to Switzerland, he took over the conception and management of the VITAL health program "www.vital-gesundheitsmanagement.ch". At the same time, he developed the first online seminar to quit smoking for the Lung League .

In his therapeutic work since 2011 he has dealt intensively with the links between traumatic experiences in connection with burnout and stress. Since 2013, part-time management of personnel and organizational development at Schutz & Rettung Zürich , the leading rescue organization in Switzerland. As an emergency psychologist, he works in various intervention teams.

In 2017 he withdrew from all therapeutic activities and advises corporate leaders in Germany and abroad on personal and cultural change processes.

He is also known to a wider audience as the author of various non-fiction books.
