Life

Pole looked after the women of SV Union Opladen in the Regionalliga and led them to promotion to the 2nd women's basketball league in the 2000/01 season . In February 2003 the owner of a Cologne company for real estate and property management announced that he would resign from his coaching position in Opladen after the end of the 2002/03 season. But he stayed in the environment and from then on took care of organizational matters at Opladen's second division ladies.

During the summer break of 2006, he again took on the role of coach in Opladen. His assistant became his wife, the former national player Birte Meyer . In the 2008/09 season, Opladen won the championship title in the 2nd Bundesliga North under Pohle's leadership and thus made it to the 1st women's basketball league. Since Union Opladen had comparatively little financial resources, Pohle managed the promotion without foreign professional players, but built on the approach of bringing mostly young German players in order to give them the opportunity to develop further. Following the championship, Pohle gave up the coaching position for professional reasons, but held it again from mid-October 2009 after Opladen had parted ways with Pohle's successor Ralf Strasbourg following the third Bundesliga matchday. The first division season 2009/10 they finished bottom of the table, Pohle and the club then separated in May 2010.
