Birte Meyer

Birte Meyer (born July 5, 1971 in Osnabrück ) is a former German basketball player .

career

Meyer was a youth national player and took part in the selections of the German Basketball Federation in 1988 and 1990 in the European championships in the U18 age group. At the 1990 tournament in Spain , the woman from Lower Saxony was the third-best West German scorer with 8.8 points per match. Later she also played A-internationals for Germany, between May 1992 and June 1995 Meyer came to 48 missions and took part in the 1995 European Championship in the Czech Republic .

In the club Meyer rose with the Osnabrücker SC under coach Jörg Scherz in 1989 in the 2nd Bundesliga and 1992 in the 1st women's basketball league . In the 1997/98 season Meyer reached the final series of the German championship with Osnabrück, where they lost to Wuppertal . In the playing years 1999/2000 and 2000/2001 she was a member of VfL Bochum (also first division). Then the player strengthened the second division Union Opladen. Meyer later worked in Opladen at the side of her husband Markus Pohle as assistant trainer and as a youth trainer at the Basketball Center Opladen eV.
